SOLS GEOMETRY

Recognize and apply particular properties of squares, rectangles, parallelograms, rhombuses, and trapezoids to solve issues involving side lengths and angle measurements. In polygons with more than four sides, be able to locate missing side lengths or angle measures. Know how to calculate the interior and exterior angles of regular polygons. Understand how translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations affect figures. Figures should be translated, reflected, rotated, and dilated.

Be able to differentiate between congruent and similar figures and solve problems using corresponding parts of congruent or similar figures. Be familiar with the geometric formulas listed on the math reference sheet and be able to use them to solve problems. Solve issues involving the circumference or area of a circle and the perimeter or area of a polygon (for example, determining the difference between the area of a square and the area of a circle inscribed in the square). Use a formula using the Pythagorean theorem to find the distance between any two points on the xy-plane. Be able to use a formula or another method to find the midpoint of a line segment in the xy-plane.

Understand how the perimeter, area, and volume of a figure change as the figure's dimensions alter due to various variables. Be able to calculate a solid's surface area and volume using a net. Understand the unit conversions listed on the math reference sheet. Recognize units that measure length, area, volume, weight, and so on.
